Covington Partners receives eBay Foundation Grant for Covington Mentoring Program

October 6, 2014 - Covington Partners, an organization committed to supporting students and families in Covington, announced today that it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the eBay Foundation Corporate Advised Fund at Silicon Valley Community Foundation.  The grant was recommended by eBay Foundation’s employee-volunteer led Kentucky GIVE Team.  Members of the Kentucky GIVE Team will present a check to Covington Partners staff on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 3 p.m.  at the local eBay office located at 40 Logistics Boulevard in Walton, KY. Funds will be used to enhance and sustain the Covington Mentoring Program which matches over 200 volunteer mentors with students throughout Covington schools.  This program connects positive adult role models with students in 3rd – 12th grade through school-based and community-based mentoring relationships.

Stacie Strotman, Executive Director of Covington Partners, said “This grant will allow us to continue the positive momentum we saw during the 2013-2014 school year which included mentors spending over 3,300 hours of one-on-one time with students.”

This grant was made possible through eBay Foundation’s GIVE Team program, which empowers employees of eBay Inc. to support their communities through volunteerism and employee-sponsored grants.  In 2013 alone, GIVE Teams worldwide recommended over 200 nonprofits to receive grants totaling more than $1,100,000.

“eBay Foundation was established to reach beyond the boundaries of eBay’s virtual village to develop strong communities that bring people together,” said Amy Millington, President of eBay Foundation. “Through our GIVE Teams, we’ve been able to identify and support a wide variety of outstanding programs, that feed families in the San Francisco Bay Area, educate children in India, assist seniors in Germany, mentor at-risk youth in Omaha, and serve the homeless in Austin – to name only a few.  We couldn’t be happier to add to our list of beneficiaries by supporting Covington Partners in its efforts.”
