Glam Happy Hour was a roaring success, with bundles of new and gently preloved clothing, shoes, and accessories donated to the Fit of the Day. Now, Covington Partners, I Have Wings Breast Cancer Foundation, Inspired Fashion, and Master Provisions are teaming together with volunteers to sort the clothing and flip the boutique for the ultimate shopping experience for young ladies at Holmes High School.
The campaign is inspired by a conversation between Megan Jackson of Master Provisions and her mentee through the Covington Partners Mentoring Program. Jackson's mentee spoke to Jackson about her need and access to appropriate work and school clothing. Jackson said of her conversation with her mentee, “I have been blessed to see my mentee grow into a wonderful young woman over the last seven years. When she mentioned to me she was looking forward to getting her first job, I wanted to be sure she was set up for success in all ways possible. We discussed options for employment near her home, a job conducive to her schedule, and everything down to appropriate attire depending on where she would find a part-time job.”
The conversation led Jackson to bring together Covington Partners, I Have Wings, Inspired Fashion, and Master Provisions for FOTD, Fit of the Day. “My mentee has inspired me to be a better person and I wanted to have an opportunity to bring women of our community together to inspire and uplift other teens in a similar way,” says Jackson.
Over the next few days, all donations will be sorted, steamed, placed on hangers, and Inspired Fashion will be flipped for the ultimate shopping experience for the young women of Holmes High School. Shoppers will meet with a personal stylist, fill their bags with free clothing items, receive free jewelry from I Have Wings Breast Cancer Foundation, be treated to hors d’oeuvres from a generous donor, and so much more.
“We look forward to empowering and supporting these young women and the impact that each of them have and will have on our community,” Jackson states.
Volunteers interested in assisting with the sorting of donations or flipping of the boutique can email Covington Partners. Sorting will take place on November 1 and 3 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and the boutique will be flipped on November 9 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
