Covington Partners’ newest staff members have worked with students in Ohio, helping them reach their personal and academic goals.
Risa Watkins of Cincinnati will serve as the new community learning center coordinator for Holmes Middle School, and Holly Simkonis of Edgewood will be the coordinator for the community learning center at Holmes High School.
Watkins recently earned her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from Kent State University. She previously worked as a recruitment and retention coordinator and student advisor at Kent State. She also has a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy from the University of Toledo.
“I wanted a career in which I could prepare the next generation of students to achieve their academic and personal goals,” she said. “I believe the CLC position allows me to fulfill my career goals and interests, and Covington Partners is an organization that embodies everything I hope to accomplish within a school and community.”
Watkins enjoys taking walks, playing basketball and traveling in her spare time.
Simkonis taught in Cincinnati Public Schools for 17 years, working with students in second through eighth grade. She has also coached volleyball and loves sports, including the Cincinnati Bengals. She also loves reading and traveling.
Simkonis was interested in the position at the high school because she is “passionate about helping and guiding the students…I feel that I can provide guidance outside of the classroom for students to succeed.”
She is married with three children, including two in college.
Covington Partners is excited to welcome Watkins and Simkonis and cannot wait to see the impact they will have on the students at Holmes Middle School and Holmes High School.
