There is nothing like the feeling of a new school year and witnessing the smiling faces of students eager to get back to the classroom, visit with friends, and share a hug with their favorite teacher.
We were thrilled to welcome back students to Covington Schools this past Monday, and along with many of our students, Covington Partners had a very busy summer!
Over 650 students attended Camp Covington. Covington Schools continues to make a large investment in our summer learning program. The financial support allows us to be especially intentional with academic support, using targeted interventions to help our students grow in both reading and math. Outside of academics, students also enjoyed many engaging activities, hands-on projects, field trips, and programming from partner organizations. Camp Covington continues to be a wonderful summer experience for our students and families to learn, grow, and simply have fun!
We also welcomed 130 golfers to our annual golf outing at Traditions Golf Club. The outing acts as the only annual fundraiser to raise unrestricted funds to further the work of Covington Partners. A big thank you to Norm and Lisa Desmarais for being title sponsors of this year's outing. We are very fortunate to have the support of many businesses and donors to make this a great event each year. Next year's event is already scheduled, so don't forget to mark your calendars for Monday, July 15, 2024, so you can be #OnParWithPartners.
August also brought the launch of our annual 31 Mentors in 31 Days campaign. Throughout the month of August we recruited mentors to be matched with a third to twelfth grade student. Did you sign up? If not, no worries. You can visit our WEBSITE and sign up today--a student is anxiously waiting for you!
We know that this will be another great year as we build off the momentum of the summer. We hope that we can continue to count on your support as a mentor, donor, and advocate.
