Covington Partners, along with organizations and school districts across the United States, recently celebrated Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week to recognize, appreciate and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours.
Research shows that skilled and knowledgeable program staff are the backbone of program quality and are key to desired positive youth outcomes. Programs run by skilled professionals result in increased social-emotional skills, school attendance, and academic performance.
Outside of the site coordinator leading the work on the ground at each school in Covington, there are countless others contributing to the success of out-of-school time programs. With over 150 certified teachers and activity leaders; along with partner organizations like Kenton County Public Library, The Carnegie, and Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center; and numerous others; the afterschool programs in Covington provide high quality programming that focuses on academic and social-emotional needs of all students.
Every young person deserves quality afterschool experiences that positively impact their development. It takes skilled professionals to create these experiences. Because of the important role afterschool professionals play in the lives of youth, they deserve recognition and support--they are the heart of afterschool.
Please join us in thanking all professionals working to positively impact young people’s lives through out-of-school time programs.
